About Our Church

Our Vision

We believe that the Great Commission and the Great Commandment are the keys to building a Great Church. It is with this mandate from Christ that we are committed to seeing people from all walks of life become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. In short, we envision a disciple-making church committed to multiplication among those living in Houston’s Northeast Harris County communities.

It is our dream not just to become a large church of 1000 or more people but to see the birth of a network of neighborhood community churches, committed to unified vision and mission while living out a set of core values that shape or fellowship. We believe God is calling us to plant a collective of churches in urban communities throughout Northeast Harris County. We long for the day when multiple neighborhood community churches will be worshipping and living on mission together. Hence the mantra “We are better Together!"

We believe that a disciple is not just someone that occasionally attends a worship service, but those committed to the local church through corporate and private worship, engaged in the relational and spiritual life of the church as an active member doing life in a  community group with other members of the local body. Additionally, we believe a disciple of Jesus Christ is committed to reaching those far from Christ by all available means, to include sharing their faith, giving of their finances, time and talent for the building of the Kingdom of God and the local church as a visible witness to a watching world.

Our Worship

Our Sunday Morning Gathering is at 10 AM every Sunday. We invite you to arrive a few minutes early and pick up a guest packet on your way into the auditorium.  We want you to know we will be glad to have you as our guest. Our Sunday Gatherings are casual and familial. We’re a church for people from all walks of life. Please wear whatever is most comfortable for you. Every Sunday, we pray together, we sing songs together, we celebrate Jesus together, we hear and respond to the message together. A typical worship service at Redeeming Word Community Church is a little over an hour, however, you’ll notice that after church many of our people are hanging out in the foyer together or going to eat a Sunday meal together.

We are passionate about communicating the truth of the gospel in age-appropriate ways. Thus, we provide Kingdom Kids for children ages 3- 11 years on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. Our children join us in the auditorium for family worship and during the meet and greet are released to Kingdom Kids for a time of age-appropriate teaching.

Meet Our Pastor

Reverend Deon Archer

Church People

Reverend Deon Archer affectionately known as Pastor D by his church never thought about planting and pastoring a church. But in his final year at The College of Biblical Studies, an urban inner city church planter, Dave Dozier, asked him a question that would plant an unshakeable seed in Deon’s heart. Through Dozier, fellow church members, and coworkers, God would confirm that He was, in fact, calling Deon to plant and pastor a church.

Deon was ordained by The Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church and spent 16 years in multiple capacities from usher, Sunday school teacher, deacon, ordained minister and elder. In addition Deon completed a Bachelor of Science degree in biblical Counseling, Studied bible at Dallas Theological Seminary, And is working on a Masters of Divinity degree from Southwestern Theological seminary. Deon went on to intern for three years at Higher Expectations Church under the leadership and training of Bryant Lee. Through the internship, Archer was equipped for pastoring and church planting in the urban inner city. He then joined the Houston Church Planters Network (HCPN), which further trained him for two years. In 2018, he was commissioned by Higher Expectations Church and HCPN to plant a church, which would become Redeeming Word Community Church.
